Chilean Firefighters Try To Contain Massive Wildfire


INTERNATIONAL: A massive forest fire broke out in the city of Valparaiso, Chile, a South American country, started Monday, February 28.

A red alert was issued to contain the fire on Wednesday, which has spread over 70 hectares.​ Firefighters in the area are trying to get the fire under control.

An attack by Russian forces on a television tower in Kyiv has killed five people, the Ukrainian emergency services has confirmed on Tuesday ,March 1.

A footage shows the moment a projectile hits the tower before it is engulfed in flames and black smoke rises.

Earlier, Russia's defence ministry has said it was planning to strike communications and intelligence sites in the capital that it has said were being used for "information attacks.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has urged the European Union on Tuesday ,March 1, via video link to an emergency session of the European Parliament to "prove that you are with us" in Ukraine's war with Russia, a day after Kyiv has officially asked to join the bloc.

European Union lawmakers, many wearing standwithUkraine T-shirts bearing the Ukrainian flag, others with blue-and-yellow scarves or ribbons, gave Zelenskiy a standing ovation.

"Do prove that you are with us. Do prove that you will not let us go. Do prove that you are indeed Europeans, and then life will win over death and light will win over darkness," Zelenskiy has said.

The Ukrainian President spoke emotionally about Russian attacks on Ukraine's second-largest city of Kharkiv. "Imagine in the morning, two cruise missiles hit Freedom Square. Dozens of victims. This is the price of freedom,” he has said.

Zelenskiy has remained in Kyiv to rally his people against the invasion. As he spoke on Tuesday, a Russian armoured column was bearing down on Ukraine's capital.
